The World of Psilocybin

Psilocybin, the psychoactive compound found in certain mushrooms, has been used for thousands of years by indigenous cultures around the world, particularly in Mesoamerica.

Ancient peoples, including the Aztecs, referred to these mushrooms as teonanácatl, meaning “flesh of the gods” and used them in religious and healing rituals to induce mystical experiences and communicate with the divine. These sacred practices were deeply integrated into their cultural and spiritual lives, providing insight, healing, and profound transformative experiences.

The use of psilocybin mushrooms was not only a spiritual endeavor but also a tool for psychotherapeutic and medicinal purposes within these communities.
